Lauren Layton was born and raised in Holtville, California. She attended Pine School, Holtville Middle School, and graduated from Holtville High School in 2003. She attended and graduated from Imperial Valley College with an AA degree in the arts in 2005. She continued her education at San Diego State University – Imperial Valley Campus where she completed and graduated from the Blended Program for teachers in 2.5 years in 2007. She wasn’t done learning and decided to join her graduating classmates from SDSU and attended and graduated from National University where she received her Masters in Literacy, Reading, and Writing in 2011.
Lauren takes pride in her work and acquiring as many skills possible. While a full time student at IVC she worked part time as an administrative assistant for Keithly-Williams Seeds. Where she managed travel arrangements, filed, and perfected her computer skills. After graduating from SDSU, she was hired by Holtville Unified School District as a teacher where she continued to teach grades 3rd and 4th grade for 9 years. She knew her way around a classroom and how to reach students to help them excel in their learning, but this wasn’t enough.
She began interning at the District Attorney’s office as a clerk, which turned into assisting attorneys in court. The fascination with this process resulted in her enrolling in California Desert Trial Academy Night Law School in Indio, California. In conjunction, she was hired as a full time clerk with the DA’s office. She learned valuable skills and worked mostly with Criminal Misdemeanors. She developed an understanding of the court process and legal system.
She was added to the Childers & Associates team in October 2016. She does a little of everything from answering phones, meeting with clients, working with Personal Injury cases, assisting in Criminal Law cases, drafting Trusts, managing Estates, Hour and Wage cases, and Juvenile Dependency. She has currently become a Notary Public as well.
During her leisure time Lauren likes to do kickboxing, yoga and run for fitness. She enjoys quality time with her family in the desert, at home, or at dinner. Her true passion is traveling. She has been the Italy, Mexico, Canada, Thailand, Hawaii, the East coast, Florida, Idaho, Texas, and California. She also enjoys participating in events for a “cause.” She ran the San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon in 2015 to raise money for cancer and hopes to participate in more in the future.
